“a little theatre company that unlocks big dreams”

Reverie Theatre Group is a nonprofit theatre organization creating theatre in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. Born from the need for safe, fulfilling, and collaborative theatre, Reverie is dedicated to creating a theatrical experience that makes cast, crew, and audiences feel cared for and supported.

OUR MISSON

Born from the belief that the greatest realities begin as impracticalities, Reverie Theatre Group is a little theatre company that unlocks big dreams. Reverie is a performing arts organization that emphasizes overall theatrical process alongside performance, striving to build an inclusive and welcoming community where artists are encouraged to unify, explore, and grow while practicing their craft. Through the lens of intersectional feminism, Reverie empowers women leaders and tells stories that present womanhood as a realm of profound subjectivity and boundless possibility.

“I think as an artist you put so much heart and energy and effort into the work that you’re doing, and Reverie adequately pays people for that energy and that effort. So no matter you are a early career artist – someone who is just starting out – or someone who would consider themselves semi-professional, you’re being paid for that work.”

Our values

Respect

The key to extraordinary art is fostering an environment of mutual respect and empathy. Reverie puts safety of its artists and administrators at the center of everything we do, seeking to eliminate trauma and reduce
stressors that so often occur in the theatrical process.

Collaboration

Artistic excellence is garnered
through collaboration, where each member of the team
feels valued, free to contribute and present ideas, and be
given the tools to realize them without fear of ridicule
or rejection. We exist to cooperate, not to compete.

Diversity

Reverie is committed to representation and ensuring that our diverse community is reflected in what we create and how we create it. We pursue projects that honor and uplift under-represented talent and celebrate artists from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Intersectional Feminism

Through the lens of intersectional feminism, Reverie shines a light on women’s vast and multi-faceted viewpoints, experiences, and ways of inhabiting our world on and off the stage. We aim to dismantle misogyny and oppression in our industry and beyond through art and activism.

Community

The development of art is that of symbiosis, and we believe that our audiences are as vital to the theatrical process as the artists who produce the work. Reverie’s open-door philosophy welcomes all people to participate in theatre in any manner they choose.
